Zambia

Zambia has taken proactive steps to address intersectoral challenges integral to the One Health concept's holistic approach to ecosystem, animal, and human health. The Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) leads and coordinates these efforts under Musso Munyeme actively developing a Zambian One Health Strategic Plan. Presently, ZNPHI operates under the Ministry of Health, but the forthcoming One Health Strategic Plan will relocate it to the Vice President's office, enhancing its role. Over the past five years, the University of Zambia (UNZA) has spearheaded the African Centre for Excellence for Infectious Diseases of Humans and Animals (ACEIDHA), a World Bank Centre for Excellence. ACEIDHA has focused on zoonosis and One Health, launching new programs and reviewing existing ones. UNZA, as the COHESA multiplier, collaborates closely with ZNPHI to advance One Health integration and implementation in Zambia.
